Unfortunately, due to very successful Book Signings in other parts of the country, Steve has sold all the available copies of his book “Where’s My Towel”. The Book Signing at Pearsons Bar will therefore be postponed to a later date. We are currently in discussion with Steve and are looking at Saturday, 4th February, prior to the Cardiff City home game. More details will follow when the date has been confirmed.

We are pleased to announce, that the Hull City Supporters’ Trust will be holding an informal book signing at Pearsons on Princes Avenue, for former Hull City player, Steve Massey. Steve joined Hull City in 1983 and became a favourite for many before moving on to Cambridge United.

Steve’s book “Where’s my Towel” explores lighter moments during his playing career, yet also reflects on some of the darker aspects of ‘the beautiful game’.

Steve’s career in the leisure industry has seen him calling bingo numbers in Minehead, managing an international circus and legendary rock bands on the Blackpool Pleasure Beach, designing innovative tourism marketing for holiday parks in Devon and Cornwall. Yet he is also someone who has faced family heartache and battled bipolar-related depression.

Coming as he does from a railway family, we might describe Steve’s autobiography as a cross-country journey, one which takes us from Cheshire to Cornwall, with stops at Bournemouth, Peterborough, Northampton, Hull, Cambridge, and Wrexham along the way.

So come and join us at Pearsons (64 Princes Avenue, Hull), from 11:45 on Saturday 17^th December 2022. Enjoy some great food, have a drink, chat to Steve and maybe even buy a signed copy of his book before heading off to the 20^th Anniversary game against Sunderland at the MKM Stadium.

After the informal signing, Steve will be attending a more formal session at the Tiger Trust Arena.

A great win for the Tigers on the road at Blackpool, hopefully the start of things to come.

Sadly, this impressive victory has been overshadowed by confirmed reports we are receiving of homophobic abuse aimed at Ryan Longman by our own fans!!

The Trust finds this kind of abuse, along with online abuse, totally unacceptable and would urge all true fans to stand up against it. There were 364 of us there and someone must know who the abuser was. If you do know them, please make it clear to them that it is not acceptable.

The incident has been reported to Blackpool FC so we will see what action is taken.

Although not so prevalent with Hull City, player abuse in sport continues to increase, and has become such an issue that UEFA has launched a campaign #realscars to highlight the effect that abuse has on players (see link below) who, after all, are just people trying to do their job to the best of their ability.

If we want our team to improve then we need to stand behind them, encourage them and support them, even when the players, the staff or the team are going through a tough period.

As part of the ongoing close relationship between the Hull City Supporters’ Trust and the Hull City Ladies’ Football Club, the Trust is pleased to announce that, former Hull City Ladies’ manager, Rachel Gay will join the Board Trust as a co-opted Director.

To help promote a better understanding of the needs of the Ladies’ club, as well as ladies’ football in general, Rachel will be a direct liaison point between the two organisations, thus strengthening the current working relationship that has grown during six years of sponsorship and support.

The Board welcomes Rachel into her new role and looks forward to a long and prosperous collaboration.   

Following the announcement that Andy Cannon would no longer feature in the Hull City 1^st Team squad, HCST have agreed to sponsor new Chelsea loanee, Xavier Simons.

Xavier joins the club for a one season loan from Chelsea. He made his debut for Chelsea in December 2021 in a 2-0 win against his old club Brentford in the EFL Cup.

He has represented England at Under-15, Under-16, Under-17, and Under-19 levels, earning a total of 8 caps. In March 2022, Xavier featured in all three of England’s victories against Republic of Ireland, Armenia, and Portugal in the UEFA Euro Under-19 Championship qualifiers.

We would like to welcome Xavier to the club and wish him a successful season.

At a time when the international spotlight is firmly on the Women’s Game, Hull City Supporters’ Trust is proud to announce its 6^th year as a player sponsor with the Hull City Ladies Football Club.

Last season we sponsored Faith Martin and, with Faith leaving the club, we then sponsored Emily Driscoll. This year, we will be sponsoring Ellice Jackman.

Ellice has made the 2^nd highest number of appearances for the club with a total of 179, during which time she has scored 17 goals.

Ellice was part of the promotion winning sides of 2014/15 and 2017/18 and, although she took some time out last season to welcome twins into her family, she is now back and raring to go in the new season.

We wish Ellice all the very best for the season and are looking forward to great things!

Despite the fact that the Ladies’ Team isn’t affiliated to the Men’s Team we were keen to continue our sponsorship of Hull City Ladies, as we can assist fans become organised and work with other Supporters’ Groups under our affiliated organisation The Football Supporters Association (FSA). We have provided our expertise and knowledge to help Hull City Ladies form their own supporters’ group and will be available to answer any questions they may have.

Hull needs a strong Women’s football team, and we look forward to helping support that objective

After listening to the views of many fans, we are pleased to announce that the Hull City Supporters’ Trust has entered into a player sponsorship deal with Hull City AFC.

For the duration of the 2022 / 2023 season we will be the sponsors of midfielder Andy Cannon.

Born in Ashton-Under-Lyne, the 26-year-old midfielder’s career began at Rochdale. He made his first-team debut for The Dale in September 2014, as he came on as a substitute in a League One match against Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road.

He went on to make over 100 appearances for the club over a five-year spell at Spotland, with the highlight being his man-of-the-match performance against Tottenham Hotspur in the 2016/17 FA Cup.

Andy left Rochdale in January 2019 to link up with experienced manager Kenny Jackett at Portsmouth. He helped Pompey to reach the League One play-offs in his first full season at Fratton Park, playing 28 times in total before promotion hopes were ended in a penalty shootout defeat to Oxford United.

The midfielder made 49 appearances in all competitions in the 2020 / 2021 season, scoring in wins against Charlton and Wigan Athletic, and was a standout performer in Portsmouth’s 2-0 win against Hull City at the MKM Stadium in December as they went on to finish eighth in League One.

After returning from a successful loan period with Stockport County last season, helping them to win a runaway promotion, Andy has worked hard and forced his way into the first team squad for this season.

We are proud to be able to add our support to the club in this way and wish Andy a successful season.

Six years after former HCST Chairman, Geoff Bielby, met with Richard Scudamore and his senior team at The Premier League,  see link,  https://hullcitysupporterstrust.com/hcst-meets-premier-league/?platform=hootsuite, Geoff, who is still an HCST Director but now also an FSA National Council member has again been invited to attend another important meeting regarding football supporters. On Monday an academic Workshop is being held at The National Football Museum to look at the growing issues of “Football Disorder at Football- Post Pandemic “. Those attending include staff from both The Premier League, The EFL, the Sports Ground Safety Authority, Club Supporter Liaison Officers from Port Vale, Cardiff City, Manchester United, and Grimsby Town. Also attending are representatives from The UK Football Policing Unit, West Midlands Police, representatives from the disabled group Level Playing Field and Her Game Too. Joining Geoff will be other leading Supporters representatives from clubs such as Liverpool, Blackpool West Ham Bolton Wanderers Sunderland. Geoff had a positive meeting with Hull City officials including Paul Woodford, Head of Operations, last month before meeting with the EFL senior team on 22nd June and remains in contact with him regarding this subject, especially as the club has launched a new campaign “Is This Your Game” in an attempt to manage the issues locally.

On Tuesday, 14th June, 2022, HCST Director Geoff Bielby attended the EFL Supporter Engagement meeting as part of the FSA team. Geoff is an FSA National Council member and was asked to represent Championship Clubs along with his NC Colleague Tony Wilkinson from Blackpool Supporters Trust and STAR (Supporters’ Trust at Reading) Director Paula Martin.

The main topics of conversation were fan behaviour and stadium safety which took over half of the two-hour meeting with views expressed from all sides.

In preparation for the meeting Geoff had met Paul Woodford, Head of Operations to discuss this important topic from our club’s perspective. As at many clubs, poor behaviour since the return of fans to matches has been an area of concern, with well-known specific problems affecting our home matches last season.

It was good to know that Hull City have been proactive, and Paul outlined to Geoff the campaign “Is This Your Game”. Geoff discussed this initiative during the meeting, and it was felt by both FSA and EFL staff and delegates that the campaign is very positive. Hull City Supporters Trust agree and  we are looking forward to working more closely with our club to help improve everyone’s match day experience in our #NewEra as #OneFamily.

Voting for the HCST AGM & Board Elections closed on 4th June, 2022.

The votes have been counted and the results can now be announced.

1. The Accounts are available for review by everyone Do you agree to waive the requirement for an audit?
   • Accepted with a 96.6% “YES” vote
2. Do you agree to the appointment of Anthony Northgraves, and the re-election of Russell Anson and Pete Fleming to the Trust Board?
   • Anthony Northgraves – elected with a 98.34% “YES” vote
   • Russell Anson – re-elected with a 95.0% “YES” vote
   • Pete Fleming – re-elected with a 100% “YES” vote.

The Board would like to congratulate all candidates and welcomes Ant to his new role on the Board. Roles and Responsibilities of the Directors will be decided by the Board at the next Meeting which is due to be held on Monday 13th June, 2022.
