Weekly News Update

We questioned last week whether Nigel Adkins was right or not to criticise his players in public after the Millwall defeat. Well two games and two wins later you have to say it was the correct decision.
The City boss may not have been thinking that just before half time on Saturday with the Tigers trailing Norwich by 3 goals to 1 however a remarkable comeback earned a 4-3 victory which was backed up with a confident and comfortable 3-0 win at Ipswich midweek.
These results have left City 9 points clear of the relegation zone and they head into this weekends clash with Birmingham City knowing a victory will put them in a very strong position of avoiding successive relegations. It won’t be easy though with the Blues also in danger of playing in League One next season and they’ll see this game as a good chance to get 3 valuable points.
Here’s your update from the Trust this week…

The Trusts response to this can be read here.

Development Review
It has been a busy week for the under 23 side.  Last Saturday they went down 0-2 to Leeds United at the KCOM; it was good to see a number of supporters stay behind to support the team.

Last night they travelled to Burnley and came away with a 1-2 victory thanks to two goals from Tom Powell.  The game was probably of more of note for the long awaited return of Moses Odubajo who played for the first half.  Their next game is on Monday away to Crystal Palace with kick off at 13:00.
Last Saturday was a busy day with the under 18 side also in action at Bishop Burton when they were defeated 2-3 by Crystal Palace.  Goals from Dan Hawkins and Keane Lewis-Potter proved not enough for the young Tigers.  They are next in action tomorrow when they travel to Millwall for an 11:00 kick off and this is followed on Tuesday when they take on Burnley at Bishop Burton in a re-arranged fixture kicking off at 13:00.
Ben Hinchliffe has joined National League North side Gainsborough Trinity on a youth loan until the end of April.
Hull City Ladies
The table topping Tigresses were in magnificent form last Sunday as they thrashed Morecambe Ladies 7-0 to return to the top of WPL Division One with 2 games in hand on 2nd place Liverpool Feds.
They are at home again this Sunday and will be very confident of another 3 points against bottom of the table Mossley Hill. As usual, the match kicks off at 2pm at the Hull University Sports Ground on Inglemire Lane..

We love to share our knowledge with people when we recommend a wine and to allow you the customer to experience experimenting with wines. Our philosophy is very much that the hard work starts, rather than finishes, when the wine has been delivered.  We are continually looking forward to the next opportunity; tomorrow, next month, next year.  The thinking cap never comes off and the challenges never cease.

Weekly News Update

Just the one match since our last newsletter after City’s game against Ipswich was called off due to the weather last Saturday.
Tuesday night saw City put in arguably their worst performance of the season in a 2-1 defeat to Millwall. The first half really was one to forget as Millwall took the lead inside a minute after some shocking defending and then doubled it with a looped header with nobody in black and amber on the post. The second half was slightly better and the goal scoring return of Abel Hernandez much welcome.
Nigel Adkins publicly criticised the players after the game. It isn’t in doubt that they deserved criticising after such a poor performance however whether this was best done in the media only time will tell.
This Saturday Norwich City are the visitors to the KCOM, a game that on paper is winnable and one City must take some points from if they are to keep their cushion to the relegation places. Here’s your update from the Trust this week

Development Review
The inclement weather has badly affected football but on Monday the under 23 managed to play.  They travelled to The Impact Arena to take on Nottingham Forest, losing 3-0.

Saturday is a busy day for Hull City.  In the morning the under18 development side takes on Crystal Palace at Bishop Burton, kick off at 11:00.  Then following the first team match against Norwich at the KCOM, the under 23 side will take on Leeds United.  We hope that good number of you decide to stay on and show your support.
The under 18 side is then in action on Tuesday 13th when they take on Leeds United at Bishop Burton College in an 11:00 kick off.  The under 23 side are also in action mid week.  On Thursday 15th they travel to Tameside Stadium to take on Burnley with kick off at 19:00.
Hull City Ladies
After suffering a cup defeat last week against West Ham Ladies, the Tigresses are at home again as they return to league action against 4th placed Morecambe this Sunday.
Just a point behind the league leaders but with 2 games in hand, the Tigresses will be looking to reclaim top-spot.
As usual, kick off time at the Hull University Sports Ground is 2pm and if you’ve never been before, get yourself down there and cheer the girls on.

Weekly News Update

Given how this season has gone, both on and off the pitch, you have to say the last week has been a success.
There was a positive meeting with the clubs management (more on that below) and 4 points earned in successive Yorkshire derbies. City looked very assured in victory over a poor Sheffield United team last Friday but had to settle for a point on a terrifically cold Tuesday evening against Barnsley.
City head to Ipswich this weekend with Abel Hernandez potentially back in the fold – his return from injury could be the difference between battling relegation and mid table security. In a poor league you do wonder where City would be if he had been available all season.
Here’s your update from the Trust this week…
** MATCH POSTPONED **
City’s game at Ipswich tomorrow has been postponed due to the severe weather conditions.
All involved are to be praised for an early decision on this, saving many fans a wasted journey.
More details are available on City’s website here.
Annual General Meeting (AGM) Notice
Can all members please note that our next AGM will be held at the William Gemmell Social Club on Saturday 10th March starting at 12:30 p.m. (prior to the Norwich City game).
Business will include Officers Reports and the election of Board Members (see below).
Election Nominees
We can now confirm that we received 5 applicants to stand as Board Members as part of our election process for 2018. All 5 have been verified by the Election Management Group, (EMG), as being current members of the Trust and have been nominated by 2 current members each.
As we have 6 potential Board vacancies available, the EMG have also agreed that Rule 35 of the Hull City Supporters Election Policy will apply:
35. If there are as many or fewer candidates than there are places, an affirmative ballot shall be held at the AGM. Each successfully nominated candidate will be put before the meeting for the approval of members. Any candidate not receiving the support of more than half of those present in person and by proxy shall be deemed to have not been elected. The exception shall be that should the failure to elect any of the validly nominated candidates leave the Board below the minimum required under the Rules for them to act, all validly nominated candidates shall be deemed elected by the EMG and this declared at the AGM.
The names and statements of the candidates will be included in next weeks newsletter, (prior to the AGM).
Richard Mathers, (HCST Secretary), would like to thank Trust members John Tindall and Tom Irvin for giving their time, feedback and diligence as part of the EMG, as well as non-member Allison Branson who oversaw the process as an independent observer.
Supporters Committee Meeting
The Supporters Committee met on Monday 26th February. Chairman Geoff Bielby attended on befalf of HCST.
Geoff reported that he felt real progress had been made at the meeting. Neither Ehab or Assem Allam attended, but Senior Management from the club did.
The club have been prompt in issuing minutes of the meeting, which can be read here.
Parliamentary Petition
Blackpool Supporters Trust have started a Parliamentary Petition asking for the introduction of an Independant Regulator for English Football

Survey for Student’s Dissertation

He is asking for fans to fill in an on-line survey to help him. You can find the survey here.
Development Review
It was a good week for the under 23 team.  On Friday a young side drew 1-1 away against Sunderland at Eppleton Colliery thanks to a goal from Keane Lewis-Potter.  Then on a bitterly cold Monday evening at North Ferriby they went one better than the first team beating Barnsley 2-1 with two goals from Ben Hinchliffe.

They next take on Nottingham Forest at 19:00 on Monday away at the Impact Arena (weather permitting).
The under 18 game away at Burnley this weekend has already fallen foul to the bad weather, following the match scheduled at Nottingham Forest which was due to be played last Wednesday.
It has been a busy week for academy signings.  Keane Lewis-Potter has signed his first professional contract, and both Robbie Mckenzie and Tyler Hamilton have signed new two year contracts.
Left back Brandon Fleming has joined National League North side Gainsborough Trinity on an initial one month loan deal.
Hull City Ladies
The Tigresses were in fine form last Sunday with a thumping 4-1 home win over Newcastle, which took then back to the top of their league and with a game in hand!
This Sunday, (weather permitting), the focus turns to the Women’s Plate and a semi-final tie at home to West Ham, with a 2pm kick off at the Hull University Sports Ground on Inglemire Lane.
So if you’re not going to Ipswich on Saturday and need a ‘football fix’ this weekend, why not pop along and cheer the ladies on.

Weekly News Update

Two games since our last newsletter and, disappointingly, predictably two defeats. There’s no shame in losing away to Chelsea, albeit City perhaps made things a little too easy for the hosts. However, City were not at their best on Tuesday night and were deservedly beaten 3-1 by Middlesbrough with the all too familiar defensive mistakes on show.
This Friday night Sheffield United come to the KCOM for a Yorkshire derby. The Blades thumped City 4-1 earlier in the season so hopefully there will be a desire for revenge among the players and a personal motivation from the manager against his former employers.
Here’s your update from the Trust this week…

Development Review
The under 23 played out what appears to have been a fairly dull 0-0 draw at Sheffield Wednesday on Monday afternoon.  More importantly in the short term for the club was that Abel Hernández came through a 55 minute run out unscathed as part of his injury recovery process

They next take on Sunderland at Eppleton Colliery this Friday evening and then on Monday evening entertain Barnsley at North Ferriby.  Both of these matches are 19:00 kick offs.
Last Saturday the under 18 side travelled to Huddersfield and came away with an impressive 1-6 victory.  Ahmed Salam scored a hat-trick and Keane Lewis-Potter, Jacob Greaves and Mason Wilson-Rhiney all chipped in with a goal apiece.  Their next game is next Wednesday when they travel to Nottingham Forest’s football academy for a 12:00 kick off.
Hull City Ladies
After a comfortable 2-0 over Bolton last Sunday, the Ladies are in league action again on Sunday, at home against Newcastle.
Kick off is 2pm at the Hull University Sports Ground on Inglemire Lane.

Weekly News Update

The City Ground lived up to its name again as the Tigers claimed their 5th consecutive league victory there last Saturday, coming away with a 2-0 victory after a complete performance.
This Friday night City head to the capital on FA Cup duty as they face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The pressure is off City and even the most loyal fan would struggle to see how we will be in the hat for the 6th round. Fingers crossed Nigel has a plan and we can cause a big upset.
Next Tuesday nights trip to Middlesbrough is likely to receive much more focus from the management as the Tigers go in search of more valuable points to strengthen their league position.
Here’s your update from the trust this week

Ryan Mason retires
This week we heard the sad news that
Ryan Mason has announced his retirement from football.
The City midfielder, 26, suffered a fractured skull against Chelsea in 2017. He had been hoping to make his return to playing soon, but a recent CT scan showed the injury’s effects were more serious than had previously been realised.
HCST wish Ryan and his family all the best for the future, and are certain that there will be a football-releated role for him.
Hull City Ex Players Reunion
On Thursday 22nd March there will be a ‘Hull City Ex Players’ event in honour of the legend that is Chris Chilton
The event will take place at the New Walton Club, be hosted by Burnsy, and feature The Beautiful Couch. More details & tickets are available here.

He is asking for fans to fill in an on-line survey to help him. You can find the survey here.
Development Review
After two heavy defeats the under 18 side showed their character to bounce back and register a 3-1 victory last Saturday against Crewe Alexandra at Bishop Burton. The City goals came from Matty Jacob, Dan Hawkins and Keane Lewis-Potter in the first half.  This Saturday they take on Huddersfield Town’s under 18 at the Canalside development at 11:00.

It has been a disappointing week for the under 23s in which they played well in two games and ended up losing them both. Last Friday their interest in the Premier League Cup was ended by Brighton & Hove Albion in a match that was notable for all three goals in the 0-3 defeat came from second half penalties.  Last Monday Sheffield United were the visitors in the league and came away with a 1-2 victory.  Both sides were evenly matched but the catalyst for The Blades was the second half introduction of full welsh international David Brooks who set up one goal and scored himself with the last kick of the match after performing an outrageous flick.  Liam Edwards was on the score sheet for The Tigers
On Monday afternoon the under 23 side travel to Sheffield Wednesday’s Middlewood training ground for a 14:00 kick off and then on Friday they head up to Sunderland for a 19:00 kick off at Epplewood Colliery ground.
Hull City Ladies
The Ladies have progressed to the semi-finals of the FA WPL Plate with a 4-0 victory over Chorley Ladies.
On Sunday (18th) the Ladies return to league action when they take on Bolton Wanderers.
Kick off is 2pm  at the Hull University playing ground on Inglemire Lane.

Weekly News Update

Given results this season, you’d probably have to say that on the pitch the last week has been relatively positive. City produced arguably their best performance under Nigel Adkins to progress to the 5th round of the FA Cup with a 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest. This was backed up with a 0-0 draw against Leeds United. The old problem of not being able to put the ball in the back of the net really cost the Tigers as they missed numerous chances to claim what would have been a thoroughly deserved victory. Hopefully the nearing return of Abel Hernandez will rectify those woes and City will rise up the table.
Off the field and quite predictably City waited until the last minute to strengthen and even then it wasn’t anywhere near as much as you would expect a team in a relegation fight to normally do. Angus McDonald arrived from Barnsley and Harry Wilson joined on loan from Liverpool.
This weekend we face a very tough test away at Preston North End. City need wins if they are to stay up and some of those are going to have to come away from home. Safe journey to all those travelling.
Here’s your update from the trust this week…

Development Review
Bishop Burton was the place to be for goals last Saturday when the under 18 went down 3-6 to Bolton Wanderers.  Hopefully the side will bounce back on Saturday when they travel to Wast Hills to take on Birmingham City in a 12:00 kick off.

Last Friday the under 23 side travelled to Birmingham City and came away with a 0-1 victory thanks to a goal from Greg Olley.
On Tuesday evening a combined development side took on Hall Road Rangers in the County Senior Cup at Bishop Burton.  They ended up comfortable 3-1 winners with Ben Hinchliffe, Greg Luer and Will Annan all finding the back of the net.  The next two fixtures are at home this week.
On Monday they entertain Bolton Wanderers in the Professional Development League, and then on Friday they take on Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League Cup.  Both of these fixtures are 19:00 kick offs at North Ferriby.
Hull City Ladies
After yet another frustrating postponement last week, the Ladies face a tough test away at Liverpool Feds on Sunday.
The Tigresses won the home game 3-0 earlier in the season so will be confident of making this their 11th successive league win

Weekly News Update

If there was still any doubt lingering as to whether City were in a relegation battle then last weekends 1-0 defeat against Sunderland will surely have given you all the evidence you need. City are in big trouble.
Only scoring in 1 of their last 7 matches and still conceding sloppy goals are ominous signs of a team only heading in one direction. The lack of activity or even urgency in the transfer market for a team struggling so desperately is also a worry – not what you would expect from a team perilously close to the relegation zone.
FA Cup action this weekend means the pressure is slightly off although 4,000 travelling fans will make it far from easy – clearly they don’t see the FA Cup as a ‘devalued’ competition…. It may well be the lowest crowd of the season also which is such a shame as cup games are normally the perfect opportunity to introduce new generations to the club. Despite our great cup runs in recent years including our first appearance in the FA Cup Final in 2014 apathy and annoyance at how Hull City is being run will be seen with a largely empty ground.
Here’s your update from the trust this week…

Development Review
The under 18 side had a good home win last Saturday when they beat Sheffield United 3-1 at Bishop Burton College.  Mason Wilson-Rhiney, Keane Lewis-Potter and Josh Thacker all found the net for the young Tigers.

The side is at home again on Saturday when they take on Bolton Wanderers at Bishop Burton.  Please note that the kick off time for this fixture is 12:00.
On Monday the under 23 side travelled down to Exeter City in the Premier League Cup. They managed to come away with a 1-1 draw after Liam Edwards’ equalising goal.  The next game is today (Friday) away at Birmingham City in the Professional Development League.

Weekly News Update

Last week City played out a very forgetful and uneventful 0-0 draw with Reading and there is little more that can be said about the game. Whilst clean sheets are always welcome, City seem to have lost their attacking potency from the beginning of the season. You could argue Nigel Adkins is building from the back but that will require a drastic improvement when going forward in the coming games.
This weekend City can drop into the bottom 3 with defeat at Sunderland. It would be a massive wake-up call but just being near the relegation zone should be enough. With still no additions in the transfer market it is difficult to find reasons for optimism.
Here’s your update from the Trust this week….

Development Review
The under 18 side that took on Sheffield Wednesday last Saturday at the Middlewood training group was a very young one made up of players largely from the u14, u15 and u16 squads.  The resulting 8-0 defeat was understandable and it is hoped the lads who turned out gained valuable experience.

The under 23 travelled to Huddersfield on Sunday and went down 2-1 with Will Annan scoring for City.  This was their third match in a week and the squad was again rotated.  Will Keane was again in the starting line up as part of his recovery from long term injury and was replaced by Tom Powell at half time.
The under 18 side are in action tomorrow when they take on Sheffield United at Bishop Burton College with the kick off at 11:00.  The next game for the under 23 side is on Monday when they travel down to Exeter City for a 19:00 kick off at St James Park.

Weekly News Update

Last weekend saw City progress to the 4th round of the FA Cup with a hard fought 1-0 win away at Blackburn Rovers. It won’t be a season defining victory but winning breeds confidence and City have been somewhat short of that this season.

This weekend a struggling Reading, and a number of ex-Tigers, visit the KCOM for what could be a nervy battle between two teams hovering just above the drop zone. Nigel Adkins is yet to strengthen his squad in the transfer market but hopefully will welcome back a few players that were either injured or rested last weekend.

Here’s your update from the trust his week…

Supporters Meeting with the Allams – No Feedback
It’s now over four weeks since the Supporters Committee last met yet despite an apology from Ehab Allam in that meeting that the Club hadn’t shared Brand Guidelines as directed by th Vice Chairman in November we are still waiting.

We applauded the club for issuing minutes within 24 hours of Novembers meeting. No minutes had been issued when we wrote this newsletter and have asked the club for an explanation. Similarly we have had no feedback from the club on our Alternative Pricing Proposal to bring back concessions.

NOTE: As we go to press we have just received details of the Brand Guidelines from the Club and confirmation of the provisional date of the next meeting – Wednesday 7th February.

Senior Tigers Memorabilia Day
On Thursday 8th February the Senior Tigers Club will be holding a ‘Memorabilia Day’

Development Review
It was a disappointing start to the year for the under 18 side who entertained Barnsley last Saturday at Bishop Burton.  They went down to a 1-3 defeat with their goal coming from Quinn Thompson.

The under 23 side managed to shake of recent poor form with an emphatic 5-1 victory against Crewe Alexandra at North Ferriby on Monday evening.  Will Keane started for the development side following his long injury lay off and quickly made an impact scoring before a planned substitution on the 30 minute mark.  He was replace by Gerg Luer, who not to be out done, went on to score a second half hat trick. The other City goal, the first of the evening, was bagged by Ben Hinchcliffe.

Then on Thursday they took on Leeds United in a re-arranged fixture at Thorpe Arch, this time going down 4-3.  Again Will Keane started and scored an early goal before another planned substitution at half time.  Greg Luer was on from the start this time and he continued his fine form scoring City’s other two goals.

The next match for the under 23 side is on Sunday (14th) when they travel to Huddersfield Town for an 11:30 kick off at the Canalside development.  Before that the under 18 side take on Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday morning in an 11:00 kick off at the Middlewood training ground.

Hull City Ladies – Top of the League!
Hull City Ladies got 2018 off to the perfect start with a 5-0 thumping of Barnsley Ladies. That win sees them go top of the Women’s Premier League Northern Division 1

Read more details of the game here from our good friends at FanaticHull.

City are on the road again next week when they face Bolton Wanderers before their first home game of 2018 against Morecambe Ladies on 21st January.

Weekly News Update

Happy New Year to all supporters of Hull City AFC!!
After a short break over the festive period we are back with our weekly updates. Sadly for the Tigers there was no festive cheer as some at times encouraging performances returned only 2 points. It is clear inward activity is needed in the transfer market and the business City do will show the ambitions of the owners.
This weekend we face Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup in a game that both sides don’t look to be taking too seriously given their contrasting league ambitions. We wish all those travelling a safe trip. Here’s your update for the last week…

Weekly News Update

A new manager and a victory to go with it! Nigel Adkins got off to the perfect start last weekend as City eventually saw off Brentford 3-2. In fairness there weren’t too many changes to the personnel or formation from before but City overcame a 1-0 deficit that they perhaps wouldn’t have managed in previous weeks. The habit of conceding late on doesn’t seem to have been eradicated yet but we will let Nigel off on that one this week! This Saturday we head to Cardiff to take on the high-flying Bluebirds in the televised tea-time game. We wish all supporters traveling a safe journey and hope City reward your loyalty before Christmas with 3 points! Here’s your update from another busy week at the Trust…

Development Review
Not the best of weeks for the under 23 side. Last Friday afternoon they went down 3-0 at
Barnsley in a Professional Development League match.
Then on Thursday night at a very cold and snowy North Ferriby a fairly young line up also went down 0-3 to an impressive Sunderland side in the Premier League Cup.  The side has a quick opportunity to bounce back though when the take on Nottingham Forest in the League on Monday.  This match is to be held at the Bishop Burton College training complex with kick off scheduled for 13:00.
The under 18 side had a better week winning 1-2 at Crewe Alexandra last Saturday morning.  Their next game is against Burnley on Saturday with kick off at 11:30 at Bishop Burton.
Adam Curry joined National League North Boston Town on loan last week and found the net in their 2-2 draw against Kidderminster Harriers in the FA Trophy.  Josh Clackstone and Dan Batty both made appearances for FC Halifax Town in their 3-3 draw against Eastleigh in their National League with Dan scoring to rescue the point.  Charlie Andrew was in goal for Pickering Town in their 2-2 draw against Bridlington Town in the NCEL Premier Division last Saturday.  Will Mannion has gone out on emergency loan to Plymouth Argyle of League 1.

Hull City Ladies
A big weekend for City Ladies as they travel to Mickleover to face Derby County Ladies in the FA Cup second round on Sunday (1pm)

Weekly News Update

So, after a weekend of watching a young, inexperienced England team keep out the world’s top 2 ranked nations, we are back to the bread and butter of club football this Saturday. In what will be the club’s remembrance fixture we will take on Ipswich Town looking to get back on track after three successive defeats. A leaky defence has been our undoing in recent matches so hopefully the break has given the team much needed time on the training pitch! Here’s the update from the Trust this week…

Statement on Call for Amnesty.
Last Friday Hull City released this statement calling for an amnesty in protests along with the reintroduction of “Concessions”.

On Wednesday we issued our response which you can read here. We believe the proposed concessions are not acceptable in their current format given it is impossible for someone to pay less for a ticket.

We are pleased to announce however that we have now been invited to an extra Supporters’ Committee Meeting on Wednesday 22nd November where Assem and Ehab Allam will be present. After consultation with our members we feel the meeting should concentrate on 3 core issues:

1. Concessions

2. Supporter Engagement

3. Branding

Please feel free to contact us here should you wish us to raise any other points.

Black and Amber Sale Friday 24th November.
Next week we will be hosting our own “Black and Amber Friday Sale”. Check out the Trust shop for fantastic deals on all our Merchandise which will make perfect Christmas presents!

We will also keep you updated via Facebook and Twitter next Friday with all the special offers. All profits are reinvested into the Trust to support our aims and objectives so your purchases do make a difference to many people.

Development Review
Monday saw a fine 0-3 win for the u23 side away at Sheffield United with goals from Keane Lewis-Potter (2) and Billy Chadwick.  Last Saturday an academy side played Sculcoates Amateurs in County Senior cup.  Two goals from Ahmed Salam and an extra time winner from Jacob Greaves secured a 2-3 win.

The next academy action is on Saturday when the u23 side take on Sheffield Wednesday at the KCOM.  The match is due to kick off at 17:00 and will follow the senior side’s match with Ipswich Town so we hope some members will stay on and lend their support.  Also on Saturday the u18 side will meet Huddersfield Town at Bishop Burton College with kick-off scheduled at 11:00.

Hull City Ladies
City ladies have progressed to the second round of the Womens FA Cup after beating Steel City Wanderers FC Ladies 4-1 last week.

They have been drawn away to Derby County, the tie will be played on Sunday 3rd December.

The Reserves play Bolton Wanderers ladies Reserves at Hull University on Sunday 19th November, kick off 2:00 p.m. HCST Junior members also get free entry with the season pass they will have received recently in the post.
