Weekly News Update

October 19, 2018

It’s back to domestic football this weekend after an excellent result for England against Spain on Monday.

Firstly City entertain fellow relegation zone occupiers Preston North End on Saturday. It might be too early to say it is a must win this early in the season however the Tigers need to start picking up points quickly!

City then head to Bristol City next Wednesday. We hope any dedicated enough to travel are rewarded with a scoreline similar to last season and we’re sure a point would be welcomed by the manager from a tough trip.

Here’s your update from the trust this week……

Petition – Yvonne Marie Blenkinsop on the Queen’s Honours list.
Last season HCST were proud to help organise the sale of the Hull City Comemorative Shirts worn against Chelsea to mark the 50th Anniversary of the ‘Triple Trawler Tragedy’.

There is a petition to try to get recognition for the last of the ‘Headscarf Revolutionaries’, Yvonne Blenkinsop (left) in the Queens Honours List.

We encourage all City fans to sign this petition to honour one of the ladies  whose campaigning brought about massive changes to the safety regulations for the Trawler Industry and saved countless lives.

The petition can be signed here.

Development Review
Last Saturday the under 18 side took on Sheffield Wednesday at Bishop Burton in very windy conditions.

After a level first half which ended 0-0 they went down to two second half goals one of which was from the penalty spot.  They are in action again on Saturday when they travel to take on Burnley.  Kick off is scheduled for 12:00 at the Barnfield Training Centre.

On Monday a young Under 23 side travelled to Bolton Wanderers in a game very much of two halves.  After managing to survive 0-0 in first half the pressure finally told and the Wanderers scored four unanswered goals in the second half.  As Steve Bruce would say ‘we dust ourselves down and go again.’

This time they will play at the KCOM stadium when they take on Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday straight after the first team take on Preston North End on Saturday.  The match is scheduled to start at 17:00 and we hope that fans will stay and support our up and coming players.

The good form of Keane Lewis-Potter has been noted elsewhere with a mention in a FourFourTwo article by Talentspotter “Revealed! EVERY Championship club’s most exciting youth prospect” You can read the article here.

Hull City Ladies
The Tigresses were pushed all the way last Sunday in their National Cup match against their lower league opponents Birmingham & West Midlands Ladies.Extra time was needed to clinch a 2-1 win and a place in the next round.

The First Teams game at home to Sheffield FC Ladies scheduled for Sunday has been cancelled by the League. The game has been rearranged for 11th November.

The Reserves are playing in the the East Riding Cup away at Hull Kingston Ladies.
