HCST Announces Corporate Membership Scheme

Hull City Supporters’ Trust has launched a corporate membership scheme targeted at businesses across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire, as well as further afield.

Lancashire-based Christopher Stern Associates Limited has become the first company to sign up for corporate membership of the Trust.

The standard corporate member is £100 for a year-long membership, which comes with a variety of benefits, including listing on the Trust’s website, priority sponsorship options at Trust events, as well as free adverts in every Trust magazine. In addition, corporate members get a framed membership certificate and are also entitled to a vote in any organised ballots.

Trust Secretary, Peter Tarbitten, who was involved in developing the corporate membership scheme, said: “We have recognised as a Trust the importance of being an inclusive organisation and are now able to open our membership to businesses as well as individuals.

“We believe the membership benefits will prove attractive to businesses across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire (as well as further afield), and the more members the Trust has, the more impact it can have on behalf of supporters.

“In the short-term we will continue to represent the views of fans while our long-term objective remains greater participation for fans in the football club that we all love.”

For those companies seeking a longer-term relationship with the Trust, there are 3 alternative membership categories:

Classic             –           £250 for 3 years,

Premium           –           £750 for 10 years and,

Elite                  –           £1,000 – lifetime.

Christopher Stern, Managing Director of the first company to sign up, said: “I’m proud to be associated with the Hull City Supporters’ Trust and the first business to join the Trust’s new corporate membership scheme. I hope other businesses in the community will get behind the Trust and its sterling work representing the fans of Hull City.”

Tigers for Turkey – “Fill the MKM!!”

When we set our initial target of £10,000 to support the victims of the Turkish Earthquake, we were expecting it to take 3-4 months.

However, the generosity of the Hull City Supporters blew our minds as well as our target, and we reached the £10,000 in just 9 days. A fabulous achievement and one where no words are available to thank the fans. The next decision was what to do with the money raised?

We listened to the views of the fans and have now decided to set another target for the appeal.

The MKM Stadium has an official capacity of 25,586 and we are, therefore, now aiming to raise £25,586 – £1 for every seat in the MKM Stadium!

This will not be easy but, we hope that everyone will continue to show the generosity shown so far and please support us in our bid to raise the £25,586 to “Fill the MKM”.

Your generosity is phenomenal and greatly appreciated.

HCST AGM 2023 – Board Member Elections

The next Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Hull City Supporters’ Trust is being planned for early April 2023 (more details to follow at a later date).

As part of the AGM, the Trust is looking to elect 5 Board Members, this being due to the 3-year term of service for some current Board Members coming to end and the number of Board Members being increased.

Any fully paid-up member aged 16 or over can be considered for nomination and we would be especially interested in hearing from younger fans as well as anyone who has close links to disabled supporters. All prospective candidates will need to be nominated by 2 other fully paid-up members. It is recommended that anyone potentially interested fully read and understand the Trust Election Policy, (available via our website), and pay particular attention to points 13-22 of that Policy.

With the change in ownership of the club and the continually improving relationship between the club and the Board, there will be many new joint initiatives being launched over the coming months and years, and we will be looking to meet these challenges with an enlarged and invigorated Board.

The positivity around the club, both on and off the pitch bodes well for the future, so if you feel you have the desire and capabilities to enhance the Board and drive HCST, its members, the Club and its fans to greater heights, then please get involved.

We welcome applications from anyone fulfilling the criteria above and looking to take an active role in one of the many sub-groups we will be putting in place to work on our key areas of focus and development.

The Election Nomination form can be accessed via the link here for Word and here for PDF and needs to be received by our Secretary by Sunday 12th April 2023 (so you have plenty of time to consider applying).

Should any Member wish to receive further details of, or discuss the role and activities as a Trust Director, then please drop an e-mail to the Trust Secretary  (secretary@hullcityst.com ) who will more than happy to help you. We can also often be found prior to any Hull City home game in the William Gemmell Social Club so why not pop in for a chat?

Exclusive Dean Windass Book Signing

In this special year that celebrates the 15th Anniversary of Hull City’s famous victory in the Championship Play-Offs and our first ever promotion to the Premier League, we are pleased to announce that we have secured a signing of an exclusive edition of Dean Windass’ new book “DEANO: Life after Football….”.
Dean talks about life as a boy growing up playing on the streets beneath the stadium, he got to play the game he loved, a game that then defined him for a lifetime after being crystallised with a volley in front of thousands of fans, some who travelled from those very streets to see him smash in his multi-million-pound goal at Wembley.
“It’s Roy of The Rovers Stuff!!”.
But what happens when all that goes away, the phone stops ringing, and you find yourself naked, empty, and scrambling to find yourself again?
Dean shares his highs and lows through life during and after the game. Drink, Divorce, Despair, Reinvention, Positive Mental Health, and learning how to live again, after football.
With no stone unturned, the straight-talking Yorkshireman pulls no punches and simply says it how he sees it. Commentary on everyday challenges and hassles, great insight to the Nations favourite sport, as well as plenty of hilarious stories as you might imagine from the natural born joker (DOB: April 1st). Imagine that…?
From a career full of accolades scoring 1 in 3 of every game he ever played. He covers addiction, depression, and times where he’s nearly bowed out of life.
Learning ‘Life after football’, Deano shares his own wins, and speaks as a man in a game plagued by a disease people didn’t talk about enough, and still don’t.
“If it helps someone else too, I’m happy”.

On Saturday, 4th March 2023, Dean will be at Pearsons, on Princes Avenue in Hull to sign limited editions of his new book, as well as to hold a Q and A session with those attending. The event starts at 12 noon.

So come along, enjoy a great atmosphere, share the company of one of the club’s living legends and pick up an exclusive version of his brand new book “DEANO: Life after football…..”.

First Hull City Supporters’ Committee Meeting

On Wednesday, 4th January, HCST Chair, Chris Stern, attended the initial meeting of the newly reconvened Hull City Supporters’ Committee at the MKM Stadium.

The session was chaired by the Club’s Deputy Chairman, Tan Kessler with several leading members of the Club’s backroom staff also attending.

In contrast to past meetings, input from the supporters’ representatives was welcomed, and the evening turned out to be a long, enjoyable, and very productive meeting one.

As part of the meet-and-greet, attendees were able to sample the new hot food selections that will be on sale inside the stadium soon. All were very impressed!

Among topics that were discussed were alternatives to free travel to away matches, and following the meeting, the Club announced extending their fantastic offer of free travel to away games for the rest of the season – a generous offer that will encourage a huge following to the remaining away matches which is applauded by the Trust.

Minutes were taken of the meeting, and we will make these available as soon as we receive them from the Club. The general feeling was that this was the start of a positive and constructive engagement between the Club and supporters which gives great hope for the future.

The Club really is living its motto of “One Family, One Dream”!

Seasonal Greetings

The Board of the Hull City Supporters’ Trust would like to wish all of our members a merry and safe festive season.

We also wish you all a happy, healthy and successful (hopefully with many 3 pointers) New Year, and look forward to seeing you on Boxing Day and in 2023.

Steve Massey Book Signing at Pearsons Bar Postponed

Unfortunately, due to very successful Book Signings in other parts of the country, Steve has sold all the available copies of his book “Where’s My Towel”. The Book Signing at Pearsons Bar will therefore be postponed to a later date. We are currently in discussion with Steve and are looking at Saturday, 4th February, prior to the Cardiff City home game. More details will follow when the date has been confirmed.

We are pleased to announce, that the Hull City Supporters’ Trust will be holding an informal book signing at Pearsons on Princes Avenue, for former Hull City player, Steve Massey. Steve joined Hull City in 1983 and became a favourite for many before moving on to Cambridge United.

Steve’s book “Where’s my Towel” explores lighter moments during his playing career, yet also reflects on some of the darker aspects of ‘the beautiful game’.

Steve’s career in the leisure industry has seen him calling bingo numbers in Minehead, managing an international circus and legendary rock bands on the Blackpool Pleasure Beach, designing innovative tourism marketing for holiday parks in Devon and Cornwall. Yet he is also someone who has faced family heartache and battled bipolar-related depression.

Coming as he does from a railway family, we might describe Steve’s autobiography as a cross-country journey, one which takes us from Cheshire to Cornwall, with stops at Bournemouth, Peterborough, Northampton, Hull, Cambridge, and Wrexham along the way.

So come and join us at Pearsons (64 Princes Avenue, Hull), from 11:45 on Saturday 17th December 2022. Enjoy some great food, have a drink, chat to Steve and maybe even buy a signed copy of his book before heading off to the 20th Anniversary game against Sunderland at the MKM Stadium.

After the informal signing, Steve will be attending a more formal session at the Tiger Trust Arena.
