Match preview: Ipswich Town v Hull City

Mark Sellers looks ahead to the next league match.  Team changes afoot, no doubt.

City travel to Portman Road on Tuesday for the next league game in a jam-packed series of fixtures.

Ipswich currently lie ninth in the table, five points outside the play-offs. Their recent form has not been great, losing three of their last four games, and bagging just three points from a possible twelve.

Mick McCarthy has had little money to spend during his time with the Tractor Boys, and has probably over-achieved with the resources at his disposal. Local media and Ipswich fans, though, feel their season is reaching a pivotal point. What happens in the next few games will shape their season and after losing out to local rivals Norwich in the play-offs last year patience is starting to wear thin with some followers.

The team Bruce picks will be interesting – he made ten changes for the 0-0 stalemate with Arsenal at the Emirates in the FA Cup. A number of players impressed in that match, but did any do enough to break into the starting eleven for Tuesday evening?

The previous league meeting in September at the KC saw City romp to a comfortable 3-0 win with goals from Bruce, Akpom, and Meyler.

The bookies have City as favourites at 6/4 with a home win for Ipswich priced at 2/1.
