Match preview: Hull City v Huddersfield Town

Is it that time already?  Mark Sellers kicks off with the first of this season’s match previews.

It’s early August, and the football season returns with almost indecent haste, pushing its way back into our weekly schedules and kicking the summer sports off the back pages.

As expected City have seen a lot of changes in personnel this close season, with more expected to happen. This makes it difficult to know exactly what to expect for Saturday’s Championship curtain raiser at the KC against Huddersfield Town, although Ryan Taylor should make his debut and Steve Bruce could also start with a new 4-4-2 system. Harry Maguire is reported as fully fit and is expected to feature according to the 犀利士

Huddersfield had an inconsistent season last term with the West Riding side eventually finishing 16th. Chris Powell did a good job on a low budget, and has added Dean Whitehead (and couple of promising young players from the lower leagues) over the summer break.

Most pundits have City as challenging for promotion and Town fighting the drop come the end of the season. This is reflected in the bookies’ odds for Saturday with City the firm favourites and the smart money on a 2-0 home win. I’m sure most fans would settle for that.
