Mark Sellers looks ahead to the fifth round of the FA Cup. Will we play our strongest team against Arsenal? Er, no.
After overcoming Bury away in the fourth round the reward for the Tigers is yet another FA Cup meeting with Arsenal.
This is the third successive season City have met The Gunners in the cup. They fell at the first hurdle last year after suffering a 2-0 defeat at the Emirates, and of course just failed to better them in the Final the year before at Wembley.
It will be interesting to see what sort of side both managers put out, as changes are certain.
Steve Bruce has been quoted on the club website that Nick Powell will “definitely play on Saturday, as will all of the ones who haven’t been playing recently.” Two who will not feature are Arsenal loanees Chuba Akpom and Isaac Hayden.
Bruce also alluded to the upcoming heavy schedule of games for City stating, “Making changes is the only option I’ve got. After Arsenal, we play again on Tuesday and then Friday so I have to make sure we’re fresh enough to compete in those games a犀利士
Wenger will likely also rest a number of first teamers, as he’ll have an eye on the Champions League tie against Barcelona on Tuesday, which is followed by three Premier League games in seven days.
Arsenel will be without Gabriel due to injury, and Koscielny is also doubtful. Mohamed Elneny, though, who could get his second start at the Emirates. Wenger was quoted in the Mirror as saying, “We’ll certainly see him against Hull. He has a chance to start.”
The bookies have the Gunners as strong home favourites, with City at 5-1 for the away win.
