  1. As someone who regularly does match reports on Hull City for vital football I read the article on Hull City’s meteoric rise with great interest. I have supported City man and boy since 1965 and have read hundreds of articles about the club.
    Yes it is true City’s rise has been tremendous but it needs to be put into context. By that I mean the article should have described the lean years as well. The Don Robinson rescue and the locking of Hull City out of Boothferry Park by David Lloyd.
    We are not only unfashionable , we are also remote and thus we find it difficult to attract really good players. Look how quickly Shane Long was off when his wife couldn’t settle.
    Probably the most remarkable thing of all though is that we got to the F A cup final with in effect our reserve team. Neither Long nor Yelavic played any part in that campaign.
    In essence what I’m saying is that to fully appreciate the size if City’s achievement you need to look at the really bad years, not just the rise from the third division
