The Trust’s #AllamQuotes campaign is determined to expose the current regime’s rhetoric and spin for what it really is. To do this we are simply looking back at Allam family quotes, before then openly and fairly examining to what extent this quote was actually acted upon. Let’s have a look at this week’s #AllamQuote…
“A new badge, to be used from the 2014-15 season, will be designed and created in consultation with fans over the coming months” (Ehab Allam, August 2013).
In 2013, in the middle of the club’s initial name change saga, Vice-Chairman Ehab Allam announced the club would be using a new badge from the 14-15 season onward – a badge created in consultation with the fans. Sure enough, the new badge was unveiled in 2014, but, of course, with no fan consultation whatsoever. Therefore, on the back of this week’s #AllamQuote, we would like to #AskEhab: Firstly, why were we never consulted over this change, as promised? And secondly, if it was never your intention to consult the fans over this change, why did you tell BBC journalists that the club were to work with fans on this project?
